eating locally…

From NPR this morning.

wait, what? Eating locally in Tucson is known by another more common name. Lets see…. joke…. joke….. rattlesnake is always in season.

but of course:
“The family leaves their home in Tucson, Ariz., and heads to Kingsolver’s family farm in Virginia to live off the land.”

Ooh, I have a better one: Kingsolver had to leave town to write the local eating cookbook, since she’d already written the poisonwood bible.

anyone got a better one liner on this?

  • McAuliflower

    Yeah, here’s a one-liner:
how about picking up a copy of Coming Home to Eat: The Pleasures and Politics of Local Foods
    by Gary Paul Nabhan.

Oooo- not the sort of snarky you were looking for :)

His adventures are based in Tucson and no, he does not starve. It’s quite the classic read for the Eating Local movement.

Besides I bet Poisonwood would made a hell of a distilled liquor! :D

    welcome to the blog, MC-auliflower.

I’ve read the book, and there certainly is plenty to eat in the Sonoran Desert. I would have preferred She be honest and note that she wasn’t doing it in Tucson because it’d been done before.
